Considering how dry and gloopy most nail polishes get after a few months, it’s a miracle my toiletry bag hasn’t hardened into one solid rock of glass and acetone. If you can even get it open, most polishes (even expensive brands!) turn thick and sticky, making an even coat nearly impossible. A few years ago, Megan taught me to just add a few drops of nail polish remover to fix this problem, and it works like a charm.
Acetone is the main ingredient in nail polish remover, and it’s also a major ingredient in nail polish itself. So by adding about a quarter-capful of nail polish remover to your nail polish, you’re just thinning it out and diluting the mixture.
