When we first saw Evan Ducharme, we were intimidated. With style and bone structure to kill for, he was one of the first people we wanted to photograph when we arrived at Eco Fashion Week’s launch on Sunday night. The intimidation quickly disappeared when we actually talked to him, and were embraced by his warm and bubbly spirit. He’d seen Witchslapped, and loved it! Seriously, that’s enough praise to keep us smiling all week.
The puzzle pieces came together when Meg realized he was that designer–the one whose collection she’d been looking forward to for weeks. And Ducharme’s Spring/Summer 2015 collection Saudade certainly quenched our excitement. Can we pretty please have all these clothes? What’s more, Ducharme makes pieces to order to eliminate waste, and uses locally-sourced, sustainably-manufactured fabrics as much as possible.
It was obvious that the crowd appreciated his gift for designing raw and original unisex pieces, as did his models. When we caught Willow (the goddess below) waiting in line for a post-show beer, she discreetly but happily smirked, “I’m wearing a jock strap for girls!”
